Nico has a wealth of business acumen having gained experience in engineering, manufacturing, project management, logistics and retail property development. He is passionate about people and thrives on transferring his knowledge and expertise. He has participated in a number of strategic business interventions. These have included the major restructuring of a business unit, the consolidation of service departments across related businesses and the implementation of an automated, process driven business structure. Nico is adept at applying a systems thinking approach to business questions. He is very focused and is able to actively engage with people to enable them to realise their true potential. He is driven by quality and is passionate about adding value in everything he does.

After matriculating, Nico entered the work arena and gained experience in manufacturing and production, procurement and project management. During a brief period in the security industry, Nico presented training courses at Damelin college. This proved to be the catalyst to his interest in the ongoing growth and development of people. At this time, Nico started to further his academic knowledge, culminating in a B.Sc (Hons) degree.

Nico took up a position with a national retailer and managed the warehousing and logistics in the Johannesburg area. When the company was acquired as part of the global retail rationalisation, Nico was instrumental in formulating the consolidation of the corporate service departments. These included establishing entirely new business units or centralising structures that were fragmented. The following corporate service departments formed part of Nico’s portfolio: Property Services, Fleet Management, Shipping and Imports, Insurance Services, Risk Management and Auditing and Group Stationery.

Further rationalisation in the retail industry led to Nico taking up his current executive position. He is responsible for the retail property development for one of South Africa’s leading retailers. Nico has been instrumental in the restructuring of his business unit to be able to face the demands of the changing business landscape. His ability to apply his expertise in systemic thinking and strategic management have been utilised on a number of initiatives that the group has embarked on.

Nico has drive, passion and initiative that he applies at every level of engagement. He displays the same passion with regards to his interests in photography, the outdoors and travel. His respect for self and others is indicative of true servant leadership.

Nico has graduated from The People Business Leadership Coaching Academy and based on his business and coaching experience to date, he qualifies as a Senior Executive Personal & Leadership Coach.
