Allan is an analytical chemist by profession. He holds a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and is registered as Professional Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. He is a member of a number of professional organisations including; South African Chemical Institute, South African Institute of Assayers and Analysts, the Geological Society of South Africa and the Mineralogical Society of America.
During his early career he gained experience as a chemical analyst and applied researcher at Anglo Platinum, Matthey Rustenburg Refiners and later as laboratory manager at Sandvik Hard Materials. In 1991 Allan joined LECO Corporation, moving into a sales position. Allan held various positions at LECO including group manager sales and then group manager for the company’s spectroscopy range of instruments. In 2001 Allan joined Philips Analytical as General Manager of their South African subsidiary and was later made a Director when Philips Analytical was purchased by a UK investor, renaming the company, Panalytical. Allan served on the board of Panalytical for 6 years before starting his own company, Allan Fraser and Associates. Allan Fraser and Associates specialises in training of laboratory personnel through active learning and practical work at the client's laboratory. The company also provides expertise in terms of analytical development work and consulting. The organisation also makes use of experts in their fields for various training and consulting projects. In 2008 Allan completed the Coaching Program through The People Business and is a member of the Coaching Fraternity.
Besides his technical background, Allan has developed sales teams through the use of key sales techniques to create consistent selling behaviour. He believes that a strong supportive culture for the selling process is required in organisations.
